The Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger
Better Than Your Local Burger Joint
Why settle for takeout when the perfect burger is just 40 minutes away?
The Whatever Pan is the workhorse of this recipe. Start by using it in the oven to achieve a perfectly even, golden-brown crust on your Parmesan onion rings. Then, move it to the stovetop to unleash its searing power. The cast aluminum retains the high heat necessary to get a deep, caramelized crust on the beef patties while the lid can be popped on for 30 seconds to perfectly melt the cheddar. It’s one pan that delivers a multi-course result.

For the Burgers:
450g quality minced beef
4 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
8 rashers streaky bacon
4 brioche buns, lightly toasted
Garnish: Curly lettuce & 6 sliced cherry tomatoes
For the Parmesan Onion Rings:
1 large white onion, sliced into thick rings
4 tbsp all-purpose flour (+ garlic salt & pepper)
1 large egg, whisked
75g panko breadcrumbs
4 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp fajita seasoning
2 tbsp olive oil
The Secret Burger Sauce:
3 tbsp Mayonnaise & 3 tbsp Ketchup
1 tsp BBQ sauce & 1/2 tsp Sriracha
1/2 tsp Yellow mustard & 1/4 tsp black pepper
1 Preheat your oven to 230°C / 450°F.
2 The Onion Rings: Set up a breading station with three bowls: 1) Flour mixed with garlic salt/pepper, 2) Whisked egg, 3) Panko mixed with Parmesan, fajita seasoning, and oil.
3 Coat onion rings in flour, dip in egg, then press firmly into the panko mix. Arrange in your Whatever Pan (or a tray) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Remove and set aside.
4 The Patties: Season the minced beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 even patties.
5 Heat the Whatever Pan on the stovetop over high heat. Sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side. Pro Tip: Add the cheese immediately after flipping and use the glass lid to trap steam and melt it perfectly.
6 Remove patties to rest. Quickly fry the bacon in the pan for 2-3 minutes until crispy.
7 Assembly: Spread the secret sauce on both sides of the brioche bun. Layer with lettuce, tomatoes, the cheesy patty, and two slices of bacon. Serve the hot onion rings on the side and enjoy!
