A simple roast beef with gravy and a side of carrots.
Roast Beef is a timeless British classic that never goes out of style. Succulent beef is coated in a simple seasoning rub, roasted until perfectly tender and served with sweet carrots and rich, homemade gravy. Straightforward to prepare yet deeply satisfying, this dish is ideal for relaxed Sunday lunches, family dinners or when you want comforting, no-fuss flavour done properly.

1 tsp plain flour
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp seasoning of your choice
950g beef top rump joint
1 onion
500g carrots

Gravy, made from the beef juices
Seasonal vegetables or roast potatoes
1 Preheat your oven to 240°C (fan 220°C).
2 Using your Chopaholic Oriental Chef’s Knife, cut the onion into wedges and slice the carrots lengthways.
3 Place the prepared vegetables into your Whatever Pan and spread them out evenly.
4 In a small bowl, mix together the flour, mustard powder and seasoning.
5 Rub the seasoning mixture all over the beef joint, ensuring it is well coated.
6 Place the seasoned beef on top of the vegetables in the pan.
7 Roast in the oven for 30 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 180°C (fan 160°C).
8 Continue cooking for a further 40 minutes for medium, or up to 60 minutes for well done.
9 Remove the beef from the oven and allow it to rest for 30 minutes before carving.
10 Serve sliced with the roasted vegetables and gravy made from the pan juices.
