Vegan Apple Crumble

A timeless British comfort classic reimagined with a plant-based twist, delivering a golden, oat-flecked crunch over tender, sweet apples.

The Plant-Based Showstopper – Vegan Apple Crumble

Warm, spiced, and utterly nostalgic, this Vegan Apple Crumble proves that you don’t need dairy to create a rich, indulgent dessert.

Achieving the perfect crumble requires a balance of soft fruit and a sturdy, golden crust—a task made effortless by The Whatever Pan. Its cast aluminum body provides superior heat distribution, ensuring the apples soften evenly without scorching. By preparing your ingredients with the Chopaholic Oriental Knives and Jean Patrique Utensils, you achieve professional precision during the prep. Mixing your topping in our Plastic Mixing Bowls allows for the perfect “breadcrumb” texture, which then bakes into a delightful crunch on the wide surface of the pan. Served straight from the pan to the table, it’s a rustic yet refined centerpiece for any gathering.

For the filling
575g/20.3oz Bramley apples
2 tbsp powdered sugar

For the crumble
175g/6.2oz plain flour
110g/4oz powdered sugar
1 tsp salt
110g/4oz dairy-free spread
1 tbsp rolled oats
1 tbsp demerara sugar

To serve
Oat-based vegan cream

1 Preheat your oven to 190°C/375°F.

2 Use the Apple Corer from your Jean Patrique Utensil Set to remove the cores, then use the Vegetable Peeler to remove the skin.

3 Slice the apples into even wedges using your Chopaholic Oriental Chef’s Knife.

4 In your medium Jean Patrique Mixing Bowl, toss the apples with the powdered sugar until evenly coated.

5 In a small Mixing Bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the dairy-free spread and rub in with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

6 Arrange the apples in an even layer across the base of your Whatever Pan.

7 Scatter the crumble mixture over the apples. Press down gently with the back of a fork to help the topping clump, then sprinkle over the oats and demerara sugar.

8 Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.

9 Allow to cool for 10 minutes to let the filling set slightly.

10 Serve warm, drizzled generously with oat-based vegan cream.
